In the minefield that is the CBD market, how do you differentiate between the many products on offer? Well, one sure way is by the colour. The three main types of CO2 extracted CBD oils are raw, decarboxylated and filtered. The sticky, almost black, raw oil is the least expensive to produce and tends to be the least effective. Once extracted it is simply infused with carrier oil (usually) and undergoes no further processing. Decarboxylated oil (also very dark) is heated to help turn some of the inactive CBDA into active CBD but at this stage it is still inconsistent in its effectiveness.
It is the filtered, golden oil, which offers the full array of benefits you should expect from CBD oil and here are some of the reasons why.
- Higher CBD Content. The filtering process removes excess plant matter, chlorophyll, lipids and waxes from the oil, which can cause stomach upsets and nausea for some users.
- Tastes and Smells Better. If you’ve ever taken the ‘black’ oil before, you’ll know that the taste is very bitter and unpalatable to many. This is caused by the unnecessary plant matter as mentioned above. With golden oil the taste and consistency makes it far easier to take sub-lingually. It also runs much more easily at room temperature and won’t clog in the bottle or dropper.
- Value for money. Whilst golden oil cost a little more to produce, the quality and the higher CBD content mean you get more of the beneficial elements of the plant for your pound. At The Herb Kingdom, our focus is on supplying high quality products at affordable prices so more people have access to this wonderful plant extract.
- The Entourage Effect. The processes involved in producing the golden oil also preserve many of the other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids required to ensure that the overall benefit is greater than the separate parts. It is using the full plant extract and not isolating the CBD which identifies higher quality oils from lower quality ones.
